Harrington Construction

Building the Grand Strand Since 1979

At Harrington Construction Company, Inc., we specialize in commercial construction throughout the Grand Strand region. For over 45 years, our family-owned business has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship, trusted relationships, and a commitment to doing the job right.

Founded in 1979 by Mike and Linda Harrington, the company was built on a decade of construction experience after Mike relocated to Myrtle Beach from Sumter. What began as a small operation has grown into a respected, community-focused firm with deep roots in the region.

Today, Jeff Harrington leads the business, continuing the family legacy with the same dedication to excellence, integrity, and hands-on project management. Under Jeff’s leadership, Harrington Construction remains a driving force in the development of commercial spaces that support the growth of our community.

From medical offices and retail centers to churches and large commercial developments, we deliver projects that meet high standards, stay on schedule, and align with your budget. Our long-standing relationships with local officials and deep knowledge of regional building codes ensure a smooth and efficient construction process from start to finish.

Whether you’re building from the ground up or expanding an existing space, Harrington Construction Company is here to bring your vision to life—with quality you can trust.

HOW OUR COMPANY HAS GROWN OVER THE LAST
47 YEARS

1979 – A Beginning Built on Trust

Michael and Linda Harrington founded Harrington Construction Co., Inc. with a simple but powerful vision: to build lasting community partnerships throughout the Grand Strand. Armed with years of industry experience—and one meaningful handshake—Michael launched the company with its very first project: the Pee Dee Speech & Hearing office on 21st Avenue. What followed was a foundation built on friendship, integrity, and a commitment to quality.

1980s – A Growing Reputation

Throughout the 1980s, Harrington Construction helped reshape the Grand Strand’s landscape with projects that would become local landmarks. Signature work included Waccamaw Pottery Malls 1 and 2, Myrtle Beach Pavilion up-fits, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and the Haunted House attraction on the boulevard. These early successes cemented the company’s reputation for craftsmanship and reliability, leading to long-standing client relationships rooted in trust—often sealed with nothing more than a handshake.

1990s – Expanding Impact & A New Generation

The 1990s marked a decade of tremendous growth. Major milestone projects included Outlet Park 3 in MB and Spartanburg (totaling over 1 million square feet), MB Chevrolet, Fowler Motors, Embers Charcoal Plant (400,000 square feet), Chapin Furniture Store, Better Brands, the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Santee Cooper.  During this time, Jeff Harrington began working alongside his father, gaining hands-on experience in every phase of the business while pursuing his commercial construction license. His involvement signaled the beginning of the next generation of leadership.

2000s – Innovation & Continued Success

As the digital age transformed the industry, Harrington Construction embraced new tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM), integrating it into the design and estimating process.
This decade also marked the company’s 25th anniversary—a celebration of hard work, resilience, and trusted relationships.  Notable projects from this era include Beach First Plaza, First Citizens Bank, Sparks Toyota, East Coast Honda/Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz of Myrtle Beach, Tidelands Ford, Tanger Outlet Park renovations, several church facilities, Horry County United Way, and numerous medical offices.

2015 – A Legacy Continues

After decades of leadership, Mike Harrington retired, proudly passing the daily operations to his son, Jeff. With decades of hands-on experience and the same unwavering commitment to integrity and loyalty, Jeff continued guiding the company with the values his father established nearly forty years earlier.  A sample of projects included: Sumter Beach Creek Fire Station, Tuomey Hospital Cancer Treatment Center, Cassatt Water Office, Doctors Care Blue Cross, Workman Cycle, Sumter Airport Hanger, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church High School, Immunoteck Bio Center, Scott Will Toyota and Wyndham Tower 4.

2025 – Building the Future

Today, Harrington Construction has completed more than 1,000 projects across South Carolina. Nearly 85% of our business comes from repeat and referral clients—partnerships that span years, and in many cases, generations. Referrals from satisfied customers continue to open new opportunities as we remain dedicated to strengthening the communities we serve. We’re proud to have collaborated with an impressive group of community partners, such as SOHO Town Center, Anderson Brothers Banks, Alley Oops, Beach Lincoln, Wyndham Sales Center, Kia Dealership, Family Justice Center, 48th Ave Parkway Plaza, Sky Bars, CareTeam Plus, Noodles, and Trinity United Methodist Church.  As we look ahead, we remain grounded in the mission that has guided us since day one: integrity, quality workmanship, and relationships that last.

Looking Forward

Here’s to continuing our mission—
building more than just structures… we’re building lasting relationships in our community.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

At Harrington Construction, we recognize that construction inherently impacts the environment. That’s why we uphold a strong policy of environmental responsibility – not just as a choice, but as a commitment. We view sustainability as a critical obligation across economic, social, and environmental levels. This commitment is woven into every aspect of our work – for our clients, our employees, and our community.

STRONG COMMUNITY ROOTS

Our legacy is built on enduring relationships and shared values. Many of our employees have worked with us for decades—some for more than 47 years—reflecting a culture of integrity, loyalty, and continuity. Their leadership has helped shape communities throughout the region. We maintain long-standing partnerships with trusted local vendors and subcontractors to ensure consistency and accountability on every project. This commitment extends beyond construction, reinforcing our responsibility to the communities we help build.
